Living A Fulfilled Life
As we prepare for the New Year, I want to go into it with a continued expectancy that what God began He is going to continue and bring to fruition in our lives.
I mentioned that often we stop making resolutions because we may not have attained what we set out to do in prior years not realizing what it means to walk with God.
A resolve or a determination to do something is not meant to replace your walk with God or replace what you would like God to do in your life.
Making a resolution is an opportunity to "reflect and reposition yourself so that you become even more determined to fulfill what is on your heart.
With this said, my hope is that there is greater consciousness of the God that you serve as you press into the upcoming days.
My hope is that you will be more determined to experience all that God has for you and not do so from the perspective of sitting back and wishing that things will get better or things will line up by reason of chance; but with resolve to come to know God through Christ in a way you never have.
God wants a group of people in the earth that wants Him more than they want any other things or people. This is only done as we recognize that there is more of God than we have come to know up to this point and we do something about the void in our hearts that can only be filled by God.
We must make¦
A determination to read His Word even more¦
A determination to study to show yourself approved unto God¦
A determination to pray and do so from the perspective of the relationship you have with God and not a religious form that is void of power¦
A determination to live in unswerving faith and obedience to each principle God gave starting with loving one another, forgiving as Christ forgave you and being benevolent in support of His Church
A determination to walk with God every day of your life
This is the beginning of setting your life on course to be fulfilled while you live in the earth.
This is important because the hour we live in requires us to be aware of the fact that "God is God and whether or not we understand what's going on around us, He really does have everything under control.
This may seem like a far-fetched statement given the things in the world that appear to be wrong. However, I'm convinced that the majority of people in the earth are having their lives and understanding influenced by both, social media and the news media more than the Word of God.
Whatever you allow to feed your mind and thoughts on is what you are going to believe and ultimately will direct your thoughts and actions.
This is especially true when it comes to God. If you allow God to feed your mind and thoughts, you will be influenced by Him through His Word.
One thing I'm convinced of is that God wants His children to be people of significance [people of worth and who are impactful]. He never intended for us to go through this life with no hope, no direction and living without any real meaning.
However to be who God called you to be you must first know how God views you. Once you know how He views you, you must live the way He sees you
Did you let negative cultural surroundings define who you will become?
Did you limit how far you are going to go in life by your level of formal education?
Did you stop trying to make your life better because of one or two decisions you made that didn't turn out right when you were young?
Did you give in and now accept your life as one that will always just get by or merely exist because of a failed or broken family or a failed or broken relationship?
These are some of the things that can take your eyes off the greater prize of living on the top in the midst of trying circumstances.
To be a fulfilled Christian, you must learn how to move past some of the trials of life and have a continued expectancy that your life will be even better than it is now.
Yet to remain focused, we must keep our eyes on God. With so many things vying for our attention, we must become skilled at staying focused on the right things.
We must believe what God wrote in His Word and have an attitude that these things being written just for you.
Allowing the Word of God to forge your thinking and living will always give the child of God an advantage in the earth because staying focused on God you will eventually begin to see things from His perspective. You will see things with a view to their end and know that nothing lasts forever.
Having a perception of God that is wrong or obscured by how others described Him, or basing the totality of His essence and His existence on one or two instances in your life will lead to a wrong impression of Who God IS.
Because something didn't go as you felt it should have does not mean that God left you or that He does not exist. Because you can't figure something out or because something does not make sense does not mean that God doesn't have a handle on your life¦ He's saying "Trust Him as you go through.
Knowing God through His Son, and living to please Him gives you an advantage over people that choose to live life on their own terms. We are open to the things that God chooses to keep us from understanding while not holding His wisdom in this against Him.
Many people reason that if they can't figure something out or if it does not make sense it's not real or God can't be in it; and then they refuse to accept it.
Yet we have been given "a spirit of faith that says, Even if I don't understand it¦ or I can't figure it out¦ I'm going to trust God in this anyway.
Second Corinthians 4
13 And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke, we also believe and therefore speak, 14 knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you. [V. 13 quoting Psalm 116:10]
We're not talking about trying to figuring God out and knowing everything about Him as we will never comprehend God in this manner.
Romans 11 states:
33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
34 "For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor?
35 "Or who has first given to Him and it shall be repaid to him?
Have you ever come on anything quite like this extravagant generosity of God, this deep, deep wisdom? It's way over our heads. We'll never figure it out.
34 Is there anyone around who can explain God? Anyone smart enough to tell him what to do?
35 Anyone who has done Him such a huge favor that God has to ask his advice?
So I'm not trying to figure God out in my serving Him. I accept Who the Scriptures reveal that He is and I also accept who the Scriptures reveal that I am.
It's this attitude that:
Keeps you moving forward even when things don't make sense;
It keeps you moving forward even when your prayer was not answered the way you thought it should be answered;
It keeps you moving forward with God even when your world seems to be collapsing all around you.
God has reversing the negatives in mind and bringing our hearts closer to Him.
23 Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God; For He has given you the former rain faithfully, and He will cause the rain to come down for you” the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.
24 The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.
25 "So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you.
26 You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you; and My people shall never be put to shame.
27 Then you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel: I am the Lord your God and there is no other. My people shall never be put to shame.
Going forward into this New Year you must understand that God has not failed you.
He has given you as verse 23 says, "the former rain faithfully; meaning up to this point "He is the One that provided for you; He is the One that sustained you; He is the One that healed you; He is the one that worked out that impossible situation.
And if that's not enough, He goes on to promise that the former rain or the former provision is nothing to be compared to what is to come as He combines what He did in the past [former rain] with what is ahead [latter rain.]
Verse 23 continues, "¦and He will cause the rain to come down for you” the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month
In the light of the king's face is life, and his favor is like a cloud of the latter rain.
This latter rain is coming upon the Body of Christ in the form of greater favor [pleasure, delight, acceptance, desire, kindness, courtesy] that translates into fulfilled vision and walking in purpose.
We're told to ask of the Lord rain in the times of latter rain¦ Ask of God favor when you know that favor has been conferred upon you.
Ask the Lord for rain in the time of the latter rain. The Lord will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, Grass in the field for everyone.
In these verses of Scripture God is speaking to His people referred to here as Zion.
In Joel 2:25 God said He was going to restore what was taken from us. In essence He has released on us a promise of provision that cannot be rescinded upon.
This means that what God decreed "cannot be recalled, cancelled, withdrawn, repealed or overturned!
The blessing of God is coming on His people in a major way in this upcoming season, but it will be reserved for those that have sown during their time of famine; worked when they were exhausted themselves; loved when they were being hated and forgave when they did nothing deserving of the punishment.
As verse 25 says, there's a restoration released that will recompense the people of God for all the hurt, pain, heartache and lack they went through.
During that time of refining, you were learning to trust God while going through some of the darkest times of your life. God sustained you and provided for you even when you did not know He was doing it. He blessed you when the enemy was trying to get you to believe that you were cursed.
The prophet said it this way¦ "God has commanded a blessing upon you and it cannot be changed.
19 "God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
20 Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.
What does it really mean to be blessed? In order to have a curse reversed or rescinded you must have a Biblical perspective of what being blessed actually is.
You must know the things that God revealed in His Word as they pertain to living a life that is filled with the abundance that Christ said you're to enjoy.
To recognize God's blessings, you must resist a mentality that associates being blessed with having a life of ease or one that never has any challenges.
I'm not minimizing the ability of God [or the desire of God] to bring material blessings into your life as this is Who God is; but living a blessed life is not determined by the abundance of things that we have accumulated.
Material blessings are God's way of providing for His children and through His children by way of those same blessings, God provides for and blesses others.
Having a mentality that says being blessed only comes in a materialistic form causes you to constantly seek something material to find fulfillment.
The reality is this mentality says, "Being blessed today with a physical [material, social, financial] substance, requires you to need another physical substance of a different nature tomorrow as your needs change.
Today it's money; tomorrow it's healing; the next day it's deliverance from something; next week it's a new job or other provision.
This list can go on as there are many material blessings that are needed as we go through this earth. You constantly seek something tangible or material.
But truly being blessed is having Christ Himself! Not recognizing that God's affirmation on your life is "Christ Himself, causes you to miss many things that God ordained for you.
With Christ comes everything necessary for living a life filled with abundance and Godliness¦ including these physical [material, social, financial] substances.
Philippians 4:19 God said He would meet your need¦ can we elevate our faith in Him enough to believe this:
When the bills are due and you don't have enough to pay it?
To trust Him when the doctor said your prognosis is not what you expected?
When you invested years in a relationship that went South and now you're left with all the bills and raising you child all by yourself?
The need here is not just a bill, not just healing, not just a family dilemma¦ it's whatever you need at the time that area of lack [or the challenge] manifests in your life.
If I am going to live this life to its greatest potential, there must be a way to do so without our full focus on something material. God said that He would bless you as you "Seek first His Kingdom and righteousness and all the things the world seeks after will be added unto you as part of your Covenant with God. Matthew 6:33
While you await the manifestation, He has promised to "Keep you in perfect peace as your mind is stayed upon Him.
3 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
4 Trust in the Lord forever, For in Yah [Yahweh], the Lord, is everlasting strength.
It's this peace that is often missing as we are often looking for an external peace or a lack of war or challenge on the outside, when this peace is something that God gave you and resides inside you.
